Robert Pattinson's $12 Million Dior Fragrance Deal Just a Rumor

NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

via glooce

The Paris-based Dior press office tells THR that no contract has been signed.

As a result of the massively successful Twilight Saga films, Robert Pattinson has transformed into a bigger star than he could ever have imagined.

And this week, it was widely reportedly by outlets including E!, The New York Daily News and USA Today that the young actor had landed a whopping  $12 million dollar men's fragrance deal with Christian Dior. Gleefully, the press noted that Pattinson's deal had even topped Brad Pitt's reported paltry $7 million for his Chanel No. 5 ads.

But there is no fragrance contract. Not yet, at least.

The Dior international press office in Paris explained to The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday morning that the so-called "reports" were just rumors and that no contract has been signed. They had no further comments.

Calls to Pattinson's camp went unanswered.

There is no question that a fragrance deal may be in Pattinson's future. After all, his Twilight costar (and rumored on-again girlfriend) Kristen Stewart is already plugging the house of Balenciaga’s Florabotanica scent.

Should a deal come through for Pattinson, he would join the ranks of other A-list actors --  Jude Law, Charlize Theron and Natalie Portman --  who have endorsed Dior fragrances in the past. Marion Cotillard is also the face of Dior handbags

But it's worth noting that Pattinson has a closer relationship with Gucci than Dior.  In fact, he loves Gucci so much that he wore their designs head-to-toe (the Signoria suit, white shirt, skinny black tie, leather belt and dress shoes) throughout his film Cosmopolis, as well as during the film's press tour.

"After I found out [from his agent] that Rob actually wore Gucci in real life, I looked at photos of him in their suits and that was the style I wanted for his character,”  Cosmopolis costume designer Denise Cronenberg told THR. “Gucci is not something I have used before, but I think it’s smart to use a line that he has already worn."

Cronenberg also revealed that Pattinson kept all his Gucci suits from the film. "I didn't think he would because he has like 4,000 suits," she admitted.

When and if Pattinson ever does land a lucrative fragrance contract, we hope he isn't presented with a script that rambles nonsensically about dreams and destiny (see: Pitt's frequently parodied Chanel No. 5 ad).

'E.T.'s' Henry Thomas: Flying Bicycle Scene 'Was Nowhere Near as Exciting to Film as it Was to Watch

NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

via glooce

lead-henry-thomas

It’s been 30 years since Henry Thomas, 41, appeared alongside one of the most famous alien’s in movie history: E.T.

Thomas, who played E.T.’s friend and emotional companion, Elliott, talked to PARADE about the lasting impact of the 1982 film, shooting that famous flying bicycle scene, and more.

On the lasting impact of E.T.
"It’s great to be a part of something that's managed to stick around for 30 years. I certainly didn't expect that when we were making it. It gives you the warm, fuzzy feeling inside that at least some of your work has been appreciated. When I look back on it now, I just remember the camaraderie. I remember the feeling of excitement that we were doing something special.”

On working with director Steven Spielberg.
“It’s an experience that is part of my childhood, so I remember it well. It was exciting. I was 10-years-old, and it was the second film that I had ever worked on. I was really, really excited to get the part and be working with Steven Spielberg, who was a hero of mine because of Raiders of the Lost Ark and his affiliation with George Lucas and Star Wars. Even as a kid, I knew enough to know that working with Steven was kind of like winning the lottery.”

On costar Drew Barrymore.
“We see each other every once in a while just through E.T.-related things. I'm the worst pen pal in the world, and I'm terrible at staying in touch with people, but Drew is very successful and she has a busy life, and whenever we see each other, it's always nice.”

On his early reaction to E.T., the alien.
“I had seen pictures and drawings of him when it was being developed. Steven [Spielberg] would take us kids to all the different departments on the lot, and he took us to the special effects lab and the art department so we could see how it all came together. He really had a hands-on approach to every aspect of the film. I think if he could've done it all himself, and not involved anyone else, then he probably would have. When I first saw E.T., I remember thinking I’d never seen anything like it before. It's not what I expected an alien to look like, which I think was the point. It was also a little bit reminiscent of some of the creatures from Close Encounters, so it was familiar and accessible. This was the first film ever that I remember as a kid where the alien was actually a good guy. I think that's part of the reason why the film was so successful. People weren't expecting that.”

On the famous flying bicycle scene.
“It was nowhere near as exciting to film as it was to watch! We were on the cutting edge of technology in 1982, but that basically consisted of me on a bike that was bolted onto the end of a camera crane and being lifted and dipped in front of a blue screen in a studio. But it was exciting to see, and of course, that's the thing that nine times out of ten, even today, people will still ask me, ‘How did they do that? How did they get the bike to fly?’”

On not falling into the typical trapping of childhood stardom.
“I was raised pretty responsibly. I never really felt famous or had a sense of entitlement. I was just never really interested in robbing liquor stores or becoming a junkie. I think child stars are always stereotyped as being one thing or another because when you're a kid and you're working in an adult world, sometimes you're expected to act like an adult and behave like an adult, and I think a lot of kids just grow up too fast in that regard. For me, I was never really inundated in the industry in my personal life. I come from a pretty humble background. My parents were just working class people and that wasn't my world. My world wasn't Hollywood and it never has been. I never really thought of myself as a child star when I was a kid. I just kind of viewed it almost as a lucky break and treated it almost like what I imagined a summer camp to be like. It was sort of like a working vacation.”

Liam Neeson is back on the market

NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

via glooce

Rumor has it, Liam Neeson called it quits with Freya St. Johnston, a British PR executive, whom he dated in the last two years. He reportedly decided to part ways with Freya since he wanted to focus on his film projects and two sons.

"Liam is heading back to America at the start of next month to work on his new film 'Non-Stop'," a friend explained. "He told Freya that he wants to take a break and concentrate on his family." So far, the Ra's al Ghul of "The Dark Knight Rises" hasn't made any comments about the rumor.

Just two weeks ago, the 60-year-old actor and 38-year-old mother of two were spotted spending time together in Rome during the weekend, while he was off from filming "Third Person". At the time, the couple was seen hand in hand at the Piazza del Popolo.

In April 2011, Liam reportedly popped the question to the blonde businesswoman, but both of them neither confirmed nor denied it. The engagement rumor came just 18 months after the actor's wife, Natasha Richardson, died of severe head injury in a skiing accident at the Mount Tremblant Resort in Quebec. From his marriage with Natasha, he has two sons named Michael and Daniel.

The "Battleship" actor is currently busy with his movie projects. He is still filming "Third Person", which will be unleashed in 2013. Also lined-up on his plate are "A Walk Among the Tombstones" and "Non-Stop", which both are scheduled to be released next year.

    Johnny Depp's drag queen performance

Johnny Depp performed the 'YMCA' with drag queens at David Furnish's 50th birthday party.

David's husband Sir Elton John threw a star studded bash to celebrate the milestone age in Los Angeles on Thursday (25.10.12) and Johnny was dragged up on stage by the performers although he didn't appear to mind.

A source told The Sun newspaper: 'Johnny's an actor, he knows how to camp it up. His Willy Wonka was definitely a bit effeminate.

'CHI CHI LaRUE was DJ-ing and sent a couple of drag queens to pull Johnny on stage to dance to a 'YMCA' mega mix. He didn't hold back and preserved his rock 'n' roll credentials by gripping a glass of whisky.'

Arnold Schwarzenegger Coming Back for Legend of Conan

    NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

    via glooce

There's a familiar Barbarian at the gate.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to star in The Legend of Conan, an extension of the Universal Pictures franchise that kicked off in 1982 with Conan the Barbarian, the studio confirmed Thursday to E! News.

And yes, Schwarzenegger will play the titular warrior again, picking up "where Arnold is now in his life," according to Chris Morgan, who is coproducing with Paradox Entertainment's Fredrik Malmberg.

"I always loved the Conan character and I'm honored to be asked to step into the role once again," Schwarzenegger told Deadline, which first reported the news. "I can't wait to work with Universal and the great team of Fredrik Malmberg and Chris Morgan to develop the next step of this truly epic story."

Universal, which put out the first Conan flick and its 1984 sequel, Conan the Destroyer, did not have a hand in last year's bomb of a remake of Conan the Barbarian, starring Game of Thrones' rather hunky Jason Momoa as the sword-wielding, loincloth-wearing hero.

But with Arnold on board, they sound excited to get back into the game and are hoping to have the film ready for summer 2014.

"I love the property of Conan so much that I wouldn't touch it unless we came up with something worthy," Morgan told Deadline. "We think this is a worthy successor to the original film. Think of this as Conan's Unforgiven."

In fact, The Legend of Conan will proceed as if neither the reboot nor the Destroyer sequel ever happened.

"By the end of [Conan of the Barbarian]," Morgan said, "Conan became a certain character, and this film picks him up there, as he faces different challenges that include dealing with age."

Matt Bomer Wasn’t Denied Superman’s Cape Because He’s Gay, Says Source

    NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

    via glooce

In a recent interview, vampy romance novelist Jackie Collins suggested that out White Collar star Matt Bomer was passed over for the lead role in Superman Returns because he was gay.

[Matt] had not come out of the closet but people in the know knew he was gay,” she said in a chat with Gaydar Radio. “His auditiontape went in and he called up the agent. Someone didn’t like him and told them he was gay. They said, “No, no, we can’t cast you.’”

But a Hollywood insider tells E! that’s just not so, saying Bomer was the choice of director Brett Ratner and when Ratner left the project a new actor was pitched.

“Matt was Brett’s Superman,” the source said. ”He would never have not cast Matt because he’s gay. Brett knew Matt was gay. They’re good friends. Matt not being Superman had nothing to do with his sexuality. It was because the director changed.”

Oddly, the director who did take over the film was Bryan Singer, who is both openly queer and one of Hollywood’s most bankable filmmakers. So if Bomer was ditched by Singer because he was gay, that’d be some really fucked-up internalized-homophobia jujitsu.

We’re not saying that kind of thing doesn’t happen—some claim it’s gay publicists, directors and execs keeping the Hollywood closet closed—but it would be a reach.

And let’s not forget Ratner got into hot water with the gays not long ago for saying rehearsals were for “faggots.” So who did care about Bomer’s sexuality and who didn’t? And would a Superman movie do big box office if its star was openly (or even rumored to be) gay?

One of the main things I remember is that horrible feeling that people were talking about you and looking at you because it was odd for the mother to leave,' he told the Australian Women's Weekly.

He was '12 or 13' when it dawned on him that his mother would never return home.

The star revealed his secret pain in the Australian Women's Weekly magazine After his parents divorced, his sisters, Zoe and Sonia, moved to England to live with their mother. The actor and his brothers, Ralph and Ian, stayed on in Sydney, Australia, with their father, Chris.

Still, Jackman never questioned his mother's love for him.

'The thing I never felt - and I know this might sound strange - I never felt that my mum didn't love me,' he explained. 'I've spoken about it at length with her since and I know she was struggling. 'She was in hospital after I was born suffering from post-natal depression. There wasn't a support network for her here.'

The star, who has two children, Oscar, 12, and Ava, 7, with his wife Deborra-lee Furness, 56, says he was able to forgive his mother when he became a parent himself.

'There comes a certain point in life when you have to stop blaming other people for how you feel or the misfortunes in your life,' the star says.

'You can't go through life obsessing about what might have been.'

Tom Hardy, Tobey Maguire, and Leonardo DiCaprio Team Up!

    NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

    via glooce

When Hollywood has two similarly themed projects brewing at the same time, it’s often a case of two studios competing to see which one comes out on top. In the case of two upcoming animal poaching movies, however, it’s actually a single studio joining forces with the same starry team for multiple projects centered around a single topic.

Warner Bros. is planning two films about the illegal poaching of endangered creatures in Africa, both of which will be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio‘s Appian Way, Tobey Maguire‘s Material Pictures, and Tom Hardy‘s Executive Options. One is said to be a star vehicle for Hardy, while the other could star all three.

We got word of the three movie stars getting together for an animal trafficking/poaching film back in August, but Deadline‘s new report indicates that the trio are actually collaborating on two separate movies with overlapping themes. At least for now — it’s not clear yet whether both will actually make it to the big screen.

The first is set to star Hardy, who came up with the concept for the story himself. Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air) is already on board to write the script, which revolves around an ex-special forces soldier (Hardy) teaching rangers how to fight off the rhino and elephant poachers lurking in the Zimbabwean bush. Over the course of the job the soldier comes to love the land and its animals, and begins to fight back against the people trying to destroy them. Dean Baker and Paul Grey will produce alongside Hardy, Maguire, and DiCaprio.

The second movie has no writer or director as of yet. But it may have the beginnings of a really good ensemble cast, as Deadline says the A-list trio “might” appear onscreen. The narrative is envisioned as a sort of Traffic for the animal trafficking industry, exploring the shady business from a multitude of perspectives ranging from corporate execs to poachers to “others involved in the underbelly of a global scourge that occurs not only in the jungles but also the oceans, where illegal shark fishing runs rampant.” This project originated with Maguire and DiCaprio, with Hardy signing on after discovering that his interests matched well with theirs.

Robert Pattinson to star in 'Hold On To Me' alongside Carey Mulligan

        NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

        via glooce

As packages firm up for AFM, here’s one that will surely reverberate in Santa Monica. Robert Pattinson is signing on to star with Carey Mulligan in Hold On To Me. The film will be directed by James Marsh, who won an Oscar for the docu Man On Wire and followed with Project Nim.

Pic is based on a true story about a femme fatale who with her boyfriend kidnaps and ransoms the town’s richest man. They bury him in a box and things go horribly awry. Pattinson plays the flashy supporting role of the woman’s life love, Jimmy, who isn’t involved in the crime. The project was scripted by Brad Ingelsby.
Indian Paintbrush’s Steven Rales, Mark Roybal and Michael Pruss are producing with Alexandra Milchan. Also producing is Todd Field, who originally developed the film to direct, but stepped off to helm Creed of Violence for Cross Creek.

Pattinson adds this to an early 2013 schedule that will have him starring opposite Guy Pearce in the David Michod-directed The Rover, and he is also starring in Mission Blacklist, the true story of the U.S. military interrogator responsible for discovering the location of Saddam Hussein in the hunt for the fallen leader. He is repped by WME and 3 Arts.

Matthew Fox: 'I Have Never Hit a Woman'

        NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

        via glooce

After two run-ins with the law in 14 months, Matthew Fox wants to set the record straight. Yes, he drove drunk. No, he didn't hit a woman.

"It's been a long, trying year of sitting on my hands on a lot of negative s--- said about me, when they're the furthest things from who I am," the former Lost actor tells Men's Fitness.

"In the 46 years I've been breathing on this planet, I have never hit a woman before. Never have, never will," he says. "Out of all the negative s---, the only thing that's true is that I was arrested for a DUI."

Heather Bormann, the Cleveland bus driver who claimed Fox assaulted her in August 2011, withdrew her lawsuit this year. But Fox admits the incident hurt his reputation. It also didn't help that Fox's former Lost costar Dominic Monaghan labeled him a "woman beater" on Twitter.

"I think there's still gonna be a lot of people out there who'll think it's true no matter what," Fox says.

As for the DUI this past May, Fox says his behavior was "stupid" and something he'll never repeat.

"I will bet you any amount of money that I will never get behind the wheel of a car after even one drink," he says. "The rest of it, the Cleveland situation, the Monaghan situation – was a pile of bulls**t, and I'm not gonna waste too much breath on that."

Alex Cross, the movie Fox was filming in Cleveland when the bus episode happened, opens this Friday.

Ewan McGregor to Star in Crime Drama 'Son of a Gun'

        NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

        via glooce

Julius Avery’s Australian crime thriller Son of a Gun, starring Ewan McGregor, will be touted to buyers during the American Film Market, with a shoot start date in early 2013.

The movie, billed as a visceral, tautly paced heist thriller, centers on a complex relationship between Australia’s public enemy No. 1 (McGregor) and his young protégé. It will be sold to North American buyers by UTA Independent Film Group and internationally by high-profile U.K. start-up sales, finance and production banner Altitude Film Entertainment.

Avery will direct the film, based on his original screenplay, with Timothy White (Two Hands) producing through Australian banner Southern Light Films. Aaron Gilbert of Media House Capital serves as executive producer. Altitude Film Sales managing director Mike Runagall said Avery's film combines the "tension and intensity of Animal Kingdom with the epic sweep of Heat." Financing is being provided by Media House Capital and ScreenWest. The movie is slated to shoot on location in Perth and Kalgoorlie.

Avery is being cited as the next Australian breakout director, following in the footsteps of David Michod and Justin Kurzel. He is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Bryce Menzies at Australian firm Marshalls & Dent.

McGregor is in production on John Wells' adaptation of August: Osage County opposite Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. He also will star in Warner Bros.’ Jack the Giant Killer, a modern take on the Jack and the Beanstalk fable directed by Bryan Singer and due in 2013.

Liam Neeson misses his late wife "every day"

        NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

        via glooce

The Irish star's spouse, British actress Natasha Richardson, passed away after suffering a severe head injury during a skiing accident in 2009.

The pair had been married for almost 15 years and the Taken actor still thinks about her all the time. "I do miss my wife every day, more than anything," he confessed to German magazine In.

The 60-year-old has two children, Michael and Daniel, who he has raised alone since Natasha's death. When it comes to their upbringing, Liam has a strong idea of right and wrong and tries to instil that into the boys. "I wouldn't say that I'm a strict father," he explained. "I'd say I am a fair, conservative father. I put emphasis on traditional values in their upbringing. I want my sons to become loyal, honest and faithful human beings."

The action star is currently busy promoting his film Taken 2, which hit screens worldwide this month. He recently revealed his sons are huge fans of the original 2008 movie and even ask him to record his key lines for their voicemail messages.
