Tom Hardy is being eyed for the lead in Animal Rescue

Now this is an interesting looking project. Start with a novel by Dennis Lehane, whose work has inspired ‘Shutter Island,’ ‘Mystic River’ and ‘Gone Baby Gone.’ Put Michael Roskam, the Oscar-nominated director of the incredible ‘Bullhead,’ in the director’s seat. Finally, headline it with Tom Hardy, easily one of the most interesting and talented actors working today. Yep, that’s all you need to get us interested in ‘Animal Rescue.’

The project was originally in the hands of Neil Burger, but he stepped away to pursue other endeavors. The current line-up of talent is not a sure thing yet, but according to Variety, gears are turning. With luck, we could be getting a Roskam-directed, Boston-based crime drama starring Hardy, which sounds incredible. Hardy is a born leading man (and he’s had one helluva year with ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘Lawless’) and Roskam’s ‘Bullhead’ is one of the most unique and audacious crime films in recent memory. This is a dream team.

As for the film itself, the story “…follows a lonely Boston bartender who rescues a puppy from a garbage can and becomes the target of the dog’s abusive and mentally unstable former owner, while simultaneously getting caught in the middle of a criminal conspiracy playing out in his mob-controlled bar.”

Of course, things could always change. Both Roskam and Hardy are in high demand, with the former planning to direct ‘The Tiger’ and an HBO pilot called ‘Buda Bridge’ and the latter signed on for a series of other projects, including Doug Liman’s ‘Everest.’ Still, we can only hope this all comes together — everything about this one feels right.

Tom Hiddleston Eyeing Theatre Return

NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

British star Tom Hiddleston is eyeing a return to the theatre as he feels the need to step away from the security of Hollywood and face the challenges of acting on stage again.

The actor started his career on the stage before winning parts in blockbusters such as Thor and The Avengers and admits he misses the thrill of performing for a live audience.

He tells Wenn, "I do think that theatre is the actors' medium ultimately. I love working in film, which is the directors' medium most of all. An actor is an instrument in the director's orchestra but the director is conducting and playing and composing the tune.

"Whereas on stage there's something so thrilling about the direct and live contact and complicity with an audience... you have this unique chemistry and there's no hiding place."

Hiddleston goes on to reveal he is actively searching for a new theatre project and hopes to be back on stage very soon.

He adds, "I'm quite excited, I'm actively reading plays at the moment to try and find something interesting and different that I could do. I also think it would be nice, I need to test myself in that arena again."

Hiddleston's previous theatre credits include a critically-acclaimed stint in a London production of Shakespeare's Othello with Scottish actor Ewan MCGregor and a West End revival of Anton Chekhov's play Ivanov.

Miley Cyrus’ fiancé Liam Hemsworth was allegedly spotted in a cozy encounter with a young blonde. The Austalian actor gave the former Hannah Montana star a massive sparkling rock in June. A Radar Online source claims that Hemsworth was spotted spending time with a mystery woman at a Hollywood party last week.

The singer’s significant other was reportedly spotted at a home in Beverly Hills for the Samsung Galaxy Note II party, Perez Hilton notes. Cyrus was allegedly not in attendance at the upscale social gathering. According to the supposed insider, the 22-year-old actor did not appear to be bothered about going stag to the Samsung Galaxy party.

Hemsworth allegedly arrived early at the Beverly Hills house party. The actor supposedly stayed late and spent the bulk of the evening conversing in the back tent with a woman not his fiancé. The Radar Online source had this to say about the alleged goings-on with Miley’s boyfriend:

“Liam was in the corner of the back tent with a blonde and they were getting very cozy. It definitely looked like they were behaving in a way that was more than just friendly. His friend/handler was trying to keep people away and allow Liam and his friend some privacy. But Liam didn’t seem to be that worried about it.”

The movie star was reportedly not being secretive about his lengthy conversation with the unknown blonde. Multiple actors and entertainment industry folks were also allegedly hanging out in the same tent.

Jared Leto Returning to Acting with 'Dallas Buyers Club'

The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman joins Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner in the AIDS drama, playing a flamboyant cross-dresser

Actor and 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto is stepping before the cameras for the first time in five years for The Dallas Buyer’s Club, joining Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner in the long-in-the-works AIDS drama.

Canadian director Jean-Marc Vallee (The Young Victoria) is helming the project, which will begin shooting next week in New Orleans.

Inspired by real events, the story centers on Ron Woodruff (McConaughey), a Texas electrician diagnosed with AIDS and given six months to live, who began smuggling alternative drugs into the U.S. to help himself and other AIDS patients. He added years to his life but rushed headfirst into a collision course with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which was bent on keeping the drugs out of the country.

In a potentially standout role, Leto would play a flamboyant cross-dresser with HIV who helps Woodruff. At one point, Gael Garcia Bernal circled the role but never reached the dealmaking stage.

Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack adapted Woodruff’s story for the screen. Robbie Brenner is producing with Rachel Rothman-Winter and Nathan Ross.

Leto worked with David Fincher in Fight Club and Panic Room and with Darren Aronofsky in Requiem for a Dream before focusing his energies on his rock band 30 Second to Mars, which since the mid-2000s has become a major concert draw. Leto did find time to direct the 30 Seconds to Mars documentary Artifact (under the pseudonym Bartholomew Cubbins), and the pic won the People’s Choice documentary award at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

With music taking so much of his attention, Leto is somewhat choosy as to what roles he takes on. Buyer’s Club will be his first acting gig since he starred in Mr. Nobody with Sarah Polley and Diane Kruger.

Jorge Garcia talks ‘Once Upon a Time’ role, reveals that the Giant will return

NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

In the Once Upon a Time episode “Tallahassee,” Garcia will be guest starring as the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk, reuniting with the Lost writing duo Ed Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.

Speaking to HitFix about the role, Garcia reveals that Kitsis and Horowitz were always the “keepers” of the Hurley storylines on Lost, and says that his coming to Once Upon a Time has been a long time in the making. “I wasn’t available last year because I was working on another show, but they pitched the giant story this year and they gave me a little bit of background about his origin,” Garcia explains (and we’d love to know what character they originally wanted him to play!).

He also reveals that he will be returning to the show for more episodes, although he doesn’t say whether it’ll be in flashbacks or in the current timeline. He does say that his backstory, “will be something to do in a later story.”

As for when he’ll return, nothing is certain, but, “they’re looking to bring me back in about a month, so they’re putting a pin in me for that. As to how much they want to use me as the whole storyline continues, it depends how the storylines progress.”

Lost fans shouldn’t be expecting the giant to be like Hurley, though. We’ve seen from the promo that he will be very angry and mean, and as Garcia says, “let’s just say the giant isn’t a giant Hurley. It’s a different angle, but it’s cool with me.”

He has also spoken to a number of different outlets about the role, including Yahoo!, where he reveals that the Once Upon a Time giant is “very different” to other versions of the character. “They always like to take something you have preconceived notions of and skew them into a different direction, and this is no different than that,” Garcia explains.
